MO-Xtina: Just got back from 'Pandora' Listening Party - FULL REVIEW OF LIBERATION

 

I just had one of the best nights of my life. :cry: I found out super last minute I was going and almost shit myself, could not fucking believe it. It was everything I could have imagined and more. She is so gorgeous in person-- legit 8 feet away from me. Talked about every single track + other TEA she spilt throughout the night. OMG…

 

NO PHONES WERE ALLOWED so don't expect any audio or pictures unless someone was brave enough to sneak that in. There was about 100 people there so I'm sure you will see other reviews pouring in, if not already. Also they had a professional photographer there so keep an eye out for those. I just got home so let me collect myself and I will include my album review right here.

 

 

Liberation - She didn't play this. So I'm not sure if they forgot or it's not on the album or what.

 

Searching For Maria - This is the album intro. It's so ridiculously gorgeous. :cry: Like a beautiful cinematic experience. She said the guy who conducted the music for the movie "Moonlight" did this and you can tell this song meant so much to her. She kept telling the audio guy to turn it up so we could hear all the intricate details. She was so into it and had her eyes closed the entire time. ugh it's so gorgeous. I CANT. 10/10

 

Maria - This goes HARD. Nothing like I suspected. Kanye brought his genius to this. The Jackson sample works perfectly. She said Kanye was one of the only people who could clear a Jackson 5 sample. It's urban, it's bass heavy, it's glorious. Perfect way to start off an album. I honestly don't remember much lyrics because the bass was so loud (for most of the songs) but trust me, this is a stand out. 10/10

 

Sick Of Sittin - OK so maybe I don't remember all of "Maria" because this song came right after and fucking SLAYED my entire existence. :eek: No joke, it's my favorite on the album. It's Rock/Soul and the chorus goes IN. The whole song is non stop. She said she tried to emulate Janis Joplin at parts. Her vocal, YOU GUYS. HER VOCAL. Soooo Good. Her and Anderson have amazing chemistry. She said there will be more work with him in the future! :] One of the lyrics I remembered was "I wasn't built for fake shit." 10/10

 

Dreamers - Cute intro, works well going into FIL.

 

Fall In Line - One of the more pop friendly tracks. 9/10

 

Right Moves - I think this was the first filler track I heard. It's good and very funky/Jamiaca vibes but nothing special. The features were as I suspected. Overall it was cool. She said there was a lot of "weed smoking" when recording it. :laugh: 7/10

 

Like I Do - The host said this was one of his favorite tracks (along with Maria & Pipe). He was a black guy and seemed like a hip-hop head too. He knew a lot about Kanye and Anderson Paak. Out of all the songs this was definitely the most radio friendly. Christina said she can imagine a dance off between a guy and a girl. 8/10

 

Deserve - My least favorite. It just didn't move me at all. I didn't really love her vocal arrangement either. The instrumental was featured on her documentary, I'll have to pin point it later. It's not bad, just kinda bland. 6/10

 

Twice - Gorgeous. 9/10

 

I Don’t Need It Anymore - She went full on SWV on this. I loved it. Some acapella moments. Great way to transition into Accelerate.

 

Accelerate - This song had the best response simply because it was the buzz single so everyone knew it. All the drunks gays and girls got their life and then the entire room lost their shit when she started singing it. :funny: It was so cute and just overall made the night so memorable. This song is going to be a cult classic/fan favorite at her shows. 9/10

 

Pipe - Shocked at how much I loved this. :cry: It's one of my absolute favorites. It's very sexual, the beat makes it so chill and sexy. I almost didn't recognize her singing it because she changed her entire tone. She said she wrote it with Tayla Parx, whom she said brings out another side to her. There was a rapper on it who I assume was XDNA or whatever that name was. He was good, added a nice texture to the song. Trust me, if you love R&B this is one of her best. And one of her most sexual. I just loved it. 10/10

 

Masochist - OK so I can't give too much detail about this song because she said something that shocked me-- SHE SAID SHE'S NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP. :eek: :eek: :eek: So I Immediately looked at her ring finger and there was nothing there. Matt was at the BBMA's so I thought maybe I was imagining things, but then she described the song and she seemed to be going through it. Said it's about torturing yourself in love and how it doesn't work or something. Honestly I was in shock and don't even remember the song. LMAO

 

Unless It’s With You - Perfect way to end the album. It's classic Christina Aguilera. It's like a more pop version of Keep On Singing My Song, I guess. It's very good and the lyrics are so timeless. I think this will be a fan favorite as well. She hits a certain note that just floored me. One of my favorites. 9/10

 

Overall the album is a true piece of art. It's up there with Stripped but more Hip/Hop influenced. It's all goes together so seamlessly and very well thought out. I AM SO PROUD OF HER. I'm not overselling this either, it's truly a wonderful album.

MO-Xtina: There were professional photographers. Pandora said they were recording it for their service and the producer said the audience was too loud. LOL

I did see Allisan Porter, one of the songwriters was there who did Masochist (she looked italian, wavy hair). Her and Christina seemed like good friends-- she shouted her out a few times. No other celebs or anything. But it was packed, I could have missed people.

The album is very cohesive, even though it mixes different genres. That is why I get why people are calling it Stripped 2.0. But I would call it her Lemonade. Liberation is on the another level when it comes to the production (same what I think with Lemonade).

Moving on to Sick Of Sittin' - it is actually reeeeeeally good song, it reminds me so much of Don't Hurt Yourself by Beyonce (from Lemonade).
 
Right Moves is the best! I love the vibe in here, with smooth vocals.
 
Deserve is not my favourite, actually it is one of the worst on album for me - instrumental was in Where is Maria video starts at 2:46.
 
Pipe is urban jam! Loves it!
 
Masochist is poppy with urban feeling, but honestly I don't remember much about it.
 
Unless it's with you will be actually fan-favourite IMHO. She goes hard with that note.

Esteeeeeemmm... creo q no entendiste la indirecta.. si das comentarios negativos, vas a recibir lo mismo... también pienso q la opinión es libre, por eso opino q no deberías emitir comentarios q en vez de sumar, restan, por lo menos no hasta q salga el disco. Mi opinion no debe alterarte

Creo que no estoy preparado para escuchar el álbum completo. Los cuatro adelantos me han parecido sensacionales (Si, ya escuché Like I do) y ver todas estas reseñas me hace pensar que el tiempo que invirtió la reina en su realización nos dejará a todos con la boca cerrada.

Esto mismo debería hacerlo con Spotify, creo que son live sessions o algo por el estilo, algunos artistas lo han hecho ya, todo sirve como promoción, que meta mano en el streaming y largue unos $$$ para que la agreguen a las mejores playlists.
